Mosque of Al-Iklhas at Kuale Sijok

Mosque of Al-Iklhas at Kuale Sijok is the 4th oldest Mosque in Belitong which until now still maintains an authentic architecture. The architecture of this mosque symbolizes an Old Javanese style that has 4 cone roofs to represent 4 pillars of the teacher. This Javanese symbol reflected the largest kingdom in Belitong, namely Balok, which the king was originally from Java. This mosque was built in 1817 which signified the entry of Islamic in Belitong during the end of the royal court and the largest in Belitong. About 300 meters to the west, it is found the old temple as a place of worship for Confucians with the year established in 1815 which showed the spread of Islam and Confucianism to this region in the same year. This showed that Belitong has created a religious chaos at that time. These worship places are strongly associated with the Kuale River channel which is directly connected to the Natuna Sea as the main access to Belitong from the north indicating this place is a port of the past as a place to mix various cultures. This Belitong cultural heritage can be seen in the Sijok Kuale Mangrove Forest Geosite.
