Sepen Dance

Sepen dance is a traditional dance of Bangka Belitung which has an element of pencak silat in its dance. This dance is very thick with Malay culture and can be seen from the dancers’ clothes, movements and accompaniment that is usually done at the event Welcoming great guests who are visiting Bangka Belitung.

Men Sahang Lah Mirah Dance

The dance of Bangka Belitung named Men Sahang Lah Mirah illustrates the joy of the people of Bangka Belitung when they are picking the harvest, namely white pepper or also called sahang. When the white pepper harvest, the people of Bangka Belitung always say praise and thank God because the harvest was then used as inspiration to create this dance.

Campak Dance

Campak dance is a Bangka Belitung dance that tells about excitement from teenagers in the area. Dances are usually performed by male and female dancers with expressions and movements that all describe expressions of joy. This dance is more often featured in events welcoming big guests, weddings and some other important events. Actually, this dance originated from the Riau Islands which was then brought at once developed in Bangka Belitung by Nek Campak so that this dance is better known as measles dance.

In the Portuguese colonial era, this dance experienced cultural acculturation that was seen from costumes, movements and accompaniment music that looked like European style even though local culture was still very visible in this dance such as costumes for male dancers, some accompaniments in Malay style and also rhyme . For the costumes of the dancers it is also a blend of European culture and also Malay. 

Female dancers will wear European-style clothing in the form of dresses and high heels. As for men’s clothing, it looks like Malay clothing, namely trousers, shirts, caps and scarves. For now, this dance has become one of the icons of traditional Bangka Belitung art which is also displayed at people’s parties.

Beripat Beregong Dance

The word folding means hitting and the gong becomes a musical instrument that accompanies this dance. Later, the assessment will be carried out by seeing who gets the least scars and who is the winner.

The Sirih Dance

The Sirih dance is the name of the Bangka Belitung dance which is usually performed 10 to 12 dancers and among them there are 2 male dancers in the back position.

The dancer will bring a container containing betel as a tribute to the guests who came at the event. The movements of the dancers will look agile moving left and right accompanied by traditional music of traditional Belitung gambus.

Pendulang Timah Dance

Pendulang tin dance is also one of the dances in the Bangka Belitung region, more precisely the creation of the Belitong Lesong Batang Dance Studio, Lesung Batang Village. This dance tells about the lives of the people of Bangka Belitung who are panning for tin in the traditional way.

This Bangka Belitung dance will be performed by dozens of male teenagers without wearing clothes and wearing only shorts with the body adorned with a mixture of kaolin and various colored cake coloring materials.

Gi Ke Aik Dance

This is a dance originating from Bangka Belitung created by the Sepintu Sedulang Art Studio.  The dance tells about the activities of the Bangka Belitung community when the morning especially the women. They will go bustling to Kulong or a small river to wash, bathe or free and return home carrying water using a jar.

Chiat Ngiat Pan Dance

Chiat Ngiat Pan means the celebration of the seventh month which is one of the Bangka Belitung dances, especially the Chinese community. The movements in this dance also have a specific meaning, namely telling stories about the rituals of prayer.  After the prayer is held, it will be followed by an umbrella auction and the burning of the statue of Dewa Ahirat Thai Se Ja as a sign that the souls who are already in the hereafter will return to the world.

Serimbang Dance

Serimbang dance is also one of the dances originating from Bangka Belitung, especially West Bangka, which will usually be accompanied by songs of falconry or pet birds. This dance will also be accompanied by strains of string as a musical instrument. Later, five teenage dancers will dance to greet guests with red shirts and scarves.

This Bangka Belitung dance illustrates the joy of a collection of afternoon birds to greet a night bird and become part of the opening of a series of typical rhombus traditions from Tempilan District in Bangka Belitung.

Kedidi Dance

Kedidi Dance is a dance originating from Bangka Belitung which is a type of entertaining or solace dance where the combination of music and motion is very dynamic and looks funny. This dance is inspired by the movements of a wooden bird that has a white feather color, a beak like a duck and has a tail that will move.

This Bangka Belitung dance will usually be held between 5 and 5 people on the 13th, 14th and also 15th days of the month by the local youth. The dance looks more interesting because it is accompanied by dambus music and a combination of elements of silat and also the motion of the sword in this dance.
