United Arab Emirates Government Hands Over Medical Equipment Assistance to Hand Out COVID-19 in the country
AKARTA – The Indonesian Government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs received assistance from the Government of the United Arab Emirates in the form of medical equipment which was then handed over to the Task Force for the Acceleration of COVID-19 Handling at Graha Jakarta National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Tuesday (28/4). Assistance consisting of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), masks, hand sanitizers and others worth Rp 11.5 billion will be used to help efforts to tackle and prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the country.
Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Indonesia Abdulla Salem Obaid Salem Al Dhaheri symbolically handed over the aid to the Main Secretary of BNPB Harmensyah who was accompanied by representatives of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Achmad Rizal Purnama, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Middle East Director, said that this assistance was proof of the friendship between Indonesia and the UAE. The assistance is not only closeness at the head of the country but also the two nations.
“Second, in the face of difficult times like this, international collaboration must still be done. This is evidenced by the arrival of assistance from the UAE, “Achmad added.
Meanwhile, Secretary General of the Ministry of Health Oscar Primadi said that the aid of medical equipment shows concern for friends in the health sector, especially those at the cutting edge.
“This will make our enthusiasm to stay together, to remain united in facing COVID-19,” Oscar said.
The Indonesian government expresses its gratitude for the much needed assistance during the crisis facing the COVID-19 pandemic.
On that occasion, Ambassador Abdulla Salem said that the assistance from the UAE Government was a form of solidarity and sympathy for the people of Indonesia who were in the crisis of the SARS-CoV-2 virus pandemic. He also prayed for the people of Indonesia to come out of the crisis.
The details of assistance worth Rp11.5 billion in the form of medical equipment to support the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, namely 100,000 pieces of PPE clothes, 500,000 pairs of gloves, 50,000 pieces of masks, 30,000 shoe protectors and 20,000 bottles sanitizer. The aid that arrived on Tuesday morning (4/28), at 02:35 WIB on an Etihad Airways flight, will be immediately distributed by the National Task Force.
The 20-ton aid plane will not only send medical equipment, but the UAE Government will also transport fruit and vegetable purchases from Indonesian farmers. This has greatly helped the local economy and MSMEs in the country.
