JAKARTA – The Indonesian Government, in this case the Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling COVID-19, has taken responsive steps regarding unwanted reports, from quarantine participants in the Tower 9 Emergency Hospital (RSD) Wisma Atlet, regarding the lack of infrastructure, both from facilities and infrastructure and its service.
In this case, the Task Force ensures that what has happened is incidental. The Task Force can understand what is happening related to these deficiencies so as to cause something unexpected.
Based on the report received by the Task Force from the Deputy Commander of the Integrated Joint Task Command (Kogasgabpad) Wisma Atlet Emergency Hospital Brigadier General M. Saleh, on Saturday (14/5) the arrival of the quarantine participants of Indonesian Citizens returning to the country or repatriation consisting of Shipmen (ABK), Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) and also students from various countries, through the Soekarno Hatta Airport with a total of more than 1,000 people.
Before conducting quarantine at Wisma Athlete, the Indonesian citizen had followed the stages of the health protocol implemented at the Port Health Office (KKP) including body temperature screening, rapid tests and filling out health forms.
Upon arrival at the Wisma Athlete complex, they were immediately directed to inhabit Tower 9 Wisma Athlet, which tower was a quarantine guesthouse, not a hospital.
In this case the tower is indeed a backup, has not been used or fully activated.
“We need to explain that Tower 9 or Block C2 is a quarantine guesthouse for repatriation, so it does not include Wisma Atlet Emergency Hospital,” explained Brigadier General M. Saleh.
For information, according to the regulations issued by the Government of Indonesia, several towers in the Wisma Atlet Emergency Hospital complex are prepared as quarantine locations for Indonesian citizens (WNI) repatriation from various countries.
Regarding the operation of Wisma Athletes, there are a number of towers that are not yet operated and are anticipatory in nature. This means that the new tower will be activated when there is a surge in quarantine participants, both with the status of Insider Monitoring (ODP), Patients Under Supervision (PDP) and COVID-19 patients.
In addition, the Task Force also realized that at that time officers from the TNI, from the KKP (Port Health Office) and from related agencies were still very limited. So in this case it is recognized that the readiness is not entirely maximal.
Seeing these conditions, Chairman of the Task Force Doni Monardo has given direction to his staff and related elements to take action by making improvements starting from the system of acceptance, security, logistical support, facility readiness and laboratory examinations for sample tests and swab tests to return or return.
Besides Doni Monardo who is also the Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has also taken action to improve coordination between agencies / work teams starting from the Port Health Office (KKP), the Directorate General of Immigration, the Airport and Port Authority, the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing , The Ministry of BUMN, TNI & POLRI, so that all obstacles faced immediately get the best solution.
In this case, the Wapangkogasgab of RSD Wisma Atlet, Brig. Gen. M. Saleh together with related parties have made efforts to improve infrastructure, services, facilities and everything deemed necessary gradually.
“The conditions are far different now. Since they were received at the time of registration, when they were examined, they went through quarantine until they were recovered until they were declared able to leave the Athlete’s House, everything has gone well,” said Brigadier General M. Saleh.
In addition, Brigadier General M. Saleh also requested cooperation from repatriated Indonesian citizens who had just entered Tower 9 Wisma Atlet so that they would consciously obey the health protocol independently without having to be directed.
“I appeal even though there is no written or supervised officer, anyone aware of implementing health protocols such as using masks, keeping a distance, washing hands and maintaining cleanliness,” he said.
According to the TNI Brigadier General M. Saleh’s report, within less than a week of being operational, there were 2,158 repatriated citizens who had entered and were undergoing quarantine at the quarantine guesthouse, Tower 9 Wisma Atlet Kemayoran.
As additional information, data collected temporarily as of May 19, 2020 at 14.00 West Indonesia Time, found that inpatients at Wisma Atlet Emergency Hospital reached 1,167 consisting of 781 men and 386 women.
