The Tebat Rasau Cenozoic Swamp Geosite recorded the largest widespread rifting on the Sundaland during the mid-Cenozoic era. The largest widesperad rifting was responsible to from the planar swamp and is known as rheotropic swamp. This ancient swamp is rich in algae (Cole, 1992) and fishes (Sanders, 1934).
The Tebat Rasau Swamp, is an ancient swamp, also known as an alluvial swamp type which is characterized by Pandanus helicopus (Morley & Morley, 2013). This flora will develop well in tidal conditions which is free instrusion from the brackish water and maintains a pH averaging at 5.5 (Corner, 1978; Morley, 2000; Furtado & Mori, 1982).
This ancient swamp is also a home for an ornamental tengkelesa’ fish (Scleropages formosus), ampong fish (Channa marulioides), and green spotted puffer fish (Tetraodon sp).
